Captured by 65-year-old environmental consultant Jodi Fredi, these stunning images reveal the intense encounter between the female Orca and the unfortunate dolphin. The spectacle unfolded about three miles from the shores of Santa Cruz, where Fredi resides.

Describing the fast-paced action, Jodi Fredi recounted, “The whale did a major tail throw, attempting to bat the unfortunate dolphin, and moments later, she came up from below flinging the dolphin through the air. The vision took my breath away, and according to the time stamp on my images, the toss took only one second.”
