Outlander: Season 8 – The Final Journey
”Outlander” is a historical drama television series based on the series of novels of the same name by Diana Gabaldon. The series follows Claire Randall, a World War II nurse who unexpectedly travels back in time to the 18th century and meets Scottish warrior Jamie Fraser. Their tumultuous love affair is set against a backdrop of major historical events.
Season 8 will be the series’ final season, marking the end of a journey that has lasted more than a decade. Production for the season began in March 2024 and will conclude on September 27, 2024. Season 8 is expected to consist of 10 episodes and is likely to air in 2025 or 2026, although an official release date has not been announced.
Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan will reprise their roles as Claire and Jamie Fraser. Other cast members such as Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin will also return as Brianna and Roger MacKenzie. The story of season 8 is expected to continue closely following the latest novel in the series, “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone”, resolving lingering mysteries and bringing closure to Claire and Jamie’s journey.

“Outlander” on Starz will end with Season 8 — and while the final season has yet to air and its premiere date is still unknown, filming has already wrapped. Series star Sam Heughan has officially wrapped his role as Jamie Fraser — and he didn’t leave empty-handed.
While speaking with The Post to promote his new show “The Couple Next Door” (airing Fridays at 9 p.m. on Starz), Heughan, 44, revealed what he learned on the “Outlander” set on his last day of filming.
“I stole a few things, but I got Jamie Fraser in his entirety. So I got his boots, his dress, his coat, his hat and his wig,” he explained.

He even wears one of the fake scars he has on his back, which is from Jamie being spanked as a child.
“That picture is framed and hanging on my wall,” he revealed.
And since he has Jamie’s entire outfit and look, “I guess if I need to, I can bring Jamie home in one piece — if I miss him that much,” he joked.
“Outlander” first premiered in 2014. Heughan has played Jamie Fraser for 11 years and more than 100 episodes.

The story follows Jamie’s decades-long relationship with time-traveling nurse Claire (Caitriona Balfe), as the pair navigate war, pirates, politics, witch hunts, years apart, murder plots, and more. He sometimes calls her “sassenach,” because she’s British.
The show will also have a spinoff prequel, “Outlander: Blood of My Blood,” about Jamie and Claire’s parents. It will air on Starz at an unspecified date this summer.
When asked what else he “stole” from the set, Heughan declined to be specific.
“Nothing special. Nothing big. There were a few things that when I left, I was a little excited and thought, ‘I’m taking that with me!’” he joked.
Heughan said it was “hard to put into words” the emotions of the final day of filming.
“It took a long time. Obviously we knew we were in the final season, so the whole season was hard to shoot,” he told The Post. “You have moments where you’re very aware of it, and other times it’s just another day on set. The last day, let’s just say there were a lot of tears and a lot of celebration.”
One of the highlights of season 8 is the exploration of the fate of Faith, Jamie and Claire’s first daughter. In the season 7 finale, Claire discovers that Faith may have survived and had children, opening up complex and emotional plotlines for the Fraser family.
After “Outlander” ends, fans can look forward to a prequel called “Outlander: Blood of My Blood”, which is expected to air in the summer of 2025. The prequel will focus on the love story of Jamie and Claire’s parents, providing more insight into the origins of the two main characters.
With its blend of historical, romantic and time travel elements, “Outlander” has captured the hearts of audiences around the world. Season 8 promises to bring a memorable ending to this emotional story.
