“Some people wear masks to hide. I wear mine to set myself free.” – Stanley Ipkiss
Stanley Ipkiss (Jim Carrey) returns in The Mask 3, an action–comedy–fantasy adventure promised to be the wildest yet. Twenty-five years after taming the Mask’s chaotic power, Stanley has settled into a quiet life, far removed from his days of mischief. But that peace shatters when Loki (Tom Hiddleston) – exiled from Asgard – discovers the Mask, an ancient Norse artifact of his own creation. Donning a twisted version of it, Loki unleashes multi-dimensional madness, blending divine trickery with over-the-top cartoon insanity.
Forced back into action, Stanley must wear the Mask one last time to stop him, teaming up with his long-lost love Tina Carlyle (Cameron Diaz). Armed not with high-tech weapons but with banana guns, fiery Cuban dance-offs, and reality-bending slapstick, the two dive into a showdown against a literal god.
Jim Carrey brings his trademark heart and explosive energy to Stanley, while Hiddleston’s Loki strikes the perfect balance of menace and humor—imagine The Mask colliding with Thor: Ragnarok. Expect Sam Raimi-style chaos: spinning cameras, haunted objects, and relentless fourth-wall breaks. This Looney Tunes–Asgard mash-up promises a spectacle that’s both hilarious and unexpectedly heartfelt.
As thrilling as it sounds, The Mask 3 currently exists only as an idea. Jim Carrey has been clear: he would only consider returning to the role of Stanley Ipkiss/The Mask if there were a “really right idea”—something far more important to him than money. Describing himself as “power-resting” rather than fully retired, Carrey says the right story and the right collaborators could pull him back into the game.
Cameron Diaz has expressed the same openness, saying she would gladly reprise her role if Jim signs on. She credits her early career breakthrough to working with Carrey and sees a reunion as something she’d embrace without hesitation.
For now, there’s no script, filming schedule, or official production plan in place. The Mask 3 remains a possibility on paper—its fate resting entirely on whether a concept emerges that’s strong enough to bring both Carrey and Diaz back together.
